Our first visit to Klinik Kesihatan
Upon the recommendation of Dr Koe to take the jabs at Klinik Kesihatan, we visited one yesterday. Here's our story.
The nearest Klinik Kesihatan at our kawasan is Kelana Jaya. Few weeks before this visit, we check out the place to make appointment. The appointment is very simple. The nurse simply write down in our clinic's card (Dr Koe's one) and wrote there noted and the date of our appointment. She told me to press D to take the number when we come.
On the day of the visit, we went early as our appointment is at 8am. Press D and pass everything (all the baby's cards) to the nurse at the counter, including MyKid. Waited for half an hour and the number was called to approach the measuring counter. Baby's weight and length and head size were measured. Here was told to remove all clothing on baby to take the weight. This is the requirement for all baby below 1 years old. Then was told to continue waiting.
Half an hour later, was called into the room. Here another nurse check baby and asked me some questions relating to baby. I told that we want to take the DTap, Polio jab. Then short while later was called again and baby was given the jab. It was so fast that baby didn't even feel much. She was asleep when the nurse jab her. She screamed for a bit and then went back to sleep. Like immediately. Then we were out of there. No need to pay anything. We saved about RM200+.
What I think about Klinik Kesihatan? Well, we have never visited any Klinik Kesihatan because we heard a lot of stories prior to this. Fierce nurses, overcrowded, filled with foreign workers, etc. I think the Klinik Kesihatan in Kelana Jaya is very clean. The nurses were friendly. There is also a breastfeeding room available. Although there are also quite a number of foreign workers, but many locals also were seen. I can't say about the queue for adults, but the queue for babies were quite short and efficient. We were done in 3 hours, shorter than our time at private hospital. Definitely shorter than at Dr Koe.
We will continue our visit and the jabs here. They seem very efficient, professional and most important is, it is free.
But I need to learn how to get use to crowded environment with baby. She screamed her head off while we were waiting. No idea what's her problem. Either she hate the noise, the heat (it's air-conditioned but she is a hot baby) or the people (overcrowded). I tried to nurse her with a nursing cover and boy, she screamed even more. She wants to look at my face when feeding. Hmm...new challenge accepted.
Otherwise if you walk up and down, she is fine but still a little cranky.
Now, how to nurse in public without nursing cover. Gonna be a tough one.
