First impression of GB Pockit + Stroller

Updated 6/9/17: Over the long weekend, we used this stroller to the max.  We brought it on the MRT, on the bus, to go to shopping mall and airport.  First impression might not be impressive but after using it for few times now, what I truly like is how easy it is to fold and unfold the stroller.  So getting on and off the bus was not a problem.    Baby feels so comfortable in it, although she did sweat a bit due to the material.  I haven't try with the clip-on fan for her yet.  Just need to remember that if want to fold the stroller, need to clear all the things from the basket and to lock the front wheels, though not optional for the compact fold but required for the ultra compact fold.  We hardly use the canopy since we were indoors all the time.  But when Baby did fell asleep on the stroller, I put the canopy on and then put my nursing cover on it to block the lights.  It works!  It might feel a bit flimsy when it is push around, but it is quite steady.  We did hang our bags on the handle and it didn't topple over.  I do wish the back support was better because Baby seems to be always in poor posture when on the stroller.  But other than that, I am quite happy with this purchase.  Will review more after our trip to China.

I did it.  I went to Lazada and I bought it.  Probably on a whim.  Probably because I can't wait to try it out.  Before I start:  Disclaimer:  I was not given a free product to review and this post is not sponsored by GB or Lazada.  I am writing this on my own free will.

No photos, coz you probably have seen it on the internet.  First impression, it is very small and very light, though the umbrella stroller that we were using were much, much lighter.

After getting it out of the box, I tried to open the stroller as how I saw on YouTube.  First time, can't open.  Second time, still can't open.  Third, fourth time, still can't open.  I was beginning to wonder if I got a faulty unit instead.  Then I thought to myself, probably I am too short, that's why I can't shake and flip it like how everyone was doing so easily.  Maybe need a bit of strength and a kick as well?  Then I got it.  I need to kinda kick the unit outwards while pressing on the handles.  Maybe because it's brand new, so it's not opening so easily.  But I got the hang of it.  Just need to kick and voila.

The moment I opened it, baby immediately got on it herself and want me to push her around.  She loves it.  Probably because it's new and she is super curious.  I like how it glides on our marble floor, very smoothly.  Though the whole stroller looks and feels very flimsy, during the push it feels very shaky, but baby is quite comfortable in it and insisted on being in it and having her lunch on it as well.

Then I tried closing it.  It looks pretty easy on YouTube.  But it's not so.  First, I locked the front wheels.  Then, I pushed the white buttons and push it down and it doesn't budge.  Only the handles went down.  Hmm....I tried again, still no go.  Then I got it.  I need to kinda push the stroller against a wall and then do it.  Because when I tried to do without leaning against the wall, the stroller kept on moving forward and I can't seem to push it down to close.  And be very careful with your fingers because both my fingers got stuck when I pushed hard and then got caught in between the handles and it was painful.  But after that, I got the hang of it and it was pretty easy.

I tried the compact way of closing which is easier.  Then I tried the ultra compact way and it was a bit tricky.  The back wheels doesn't click to close and kept on coming out instead.  Hmm....is it a design flaw or a faulty unit?  I can't really tell.  Need to do few times then only got it right.

Ok, so that's about the opening and closing and gliding it on our marble floor.  No problem going up and down the curb.  I tried to shorten the handles because of my height and I almost folded my baby in the stroller in it!!!  Because after I pushed on the white buttons and folded the handles, I didn't hear the click sound and continue pushing baby in it.  When we reached the curb and it bumped down and the stroller suddenly folded with baby in it!!!!  My bad.

Yesterday, I tested it out in a shopping mall.  It was folded in the ultra compact way and I put it on the car floor on the passenger side.  I didn't put it in the boot and it fits perfectly.  Then upon arrival, I opened in just one time and quickly put baby on it.  The push around the shopping mall is very smooth especially when the front wheel are swiveling 360 degrees.  It can squeeze into tight spaces, on aisles that are very narrow.

However, I am super not comfortable with the way my girl is sitting.  Her legs are dangling because there is no adjustable foot rest.  Just the rubber foot rest that is way below her legs.  And it looks like her posture is just so bad, half way lying down and not straight up.  Probably because the back is a bit recline even though it is at the max.  She does look very comfy in it, so maybe it's not the design, but maybe because I didn't adjust the 5-point seat belt right, I don't know.  I need to try again.

But the foot rest part....sigh.  I made a big mistake there.

You see, I am a short person.  So short that if I lean on any chair, my feet can't reach the ground.  So most of the time if I want to be comfortable, I have to either sit without leaning, means posture have to be good or lean back and sit cross legged.  In the office, I put a pillow at the back and a small stool so that my legs can be of a comfortable height.

When out for movies, because I have to sit through almost 2 hours without moving, usually I will sit cross legged.  But I find I get cramps and pins and needles still and ended up just sitting with my legs dangling in front.  Then my knees would hurt like crazy towards the end of the show.

Now back to the stroller.  My girl is not very tall and being 19 months old, she is a little petite and her legs are not long enough to rest on the rubber foot rest.  So, from the angle when she is in the stroller, all strapped up, it looks like she is half way lying down with both legs dangling in front.  Sometimes she straighten her legs and like kicking things along the aisle.

I have not considered an adjustable foot rest when buying a stroller.  I have completely forgotten about this part.  I thought it's not important but it is so important.  I kinda regret my purchase.  Next time, if need to buy something so expensive, I should bring my girl and try it out first.  But I didn't.  My mistake.

Then I thought of returning it, since Lazada has return policy.  However, I can't return without it being faulty and the product doesn't have the Customer Satisfaction stamp, means I can't return it based on my change of mind.  Besides, I have cut off all the tags.  Sigh.  Another mistake.

Anyway, the back of the stroller seems a bit recline even though it is set at the max.  I have to kinda push it a bit more so that she is sitting upright instead of lying down.  Maybe I will try to adjust the harness and see if it is different.

Perhaps I could have purchase the older model, the one without recline.  Coz it was smaller and lighter.  Besides, the recline or not is just a few degrees different.  And it was slightly cheaper too.  However, when I asked around, many dealers don't carry the older models or has limited colours.

OK, after our shopping trip, we went back to the car.  I strapped baby to her car seat and then folded the stroller within seconds.  Done.

Overall, I haven't try it out in China and I will do a full review later.  But so far, without the foot rest, I feel a bit uncomfortable with my choice.  So much so that I started researching for a compact stroller with foot rest and found none.  Not even Yoyo +.  Unless I want a bulkier product, otherwise, no foot rest.

So this is the first impression of the GB Pockit + and the first usage.  I already don't like it as much as I saw it on the internet.  So now I have to keep reading the reviews to find out if others have the same problem as mine.  Or maybe I am just a fussy person.
