Review : MyNutriBaby - Healthy Start for Baby and Me

Last Saturday, hubby and I went for a breastfeeding event organised by MyNutriBaby.  We paid RM30 per couple for the 2 hour session.

When we first arrived, we were a little shocked when we were told that we will be having a cooking demonstration too.  I asked the girl at the registration counter again, "Eh, we are here for the breastfeeding event only.  Cooking?"  And she said yes, there will be cooking demonstration with us involved in it as well.  Meaning practical session too.

Puan Fatima (forgot where she was from) gave a short talk on breastfeeding.  It was very informative and I got more information from her than found in the blogs or websites.  I like the way she explained what happens right after birth.  What to do with baby and how to breastfeed for the first time.  It was very useful to me.

Then we proceeded to the cooking demonstration.  We were told that part of breastfeeding successfully is for mommies to eat the right kind of food.  So I thought, why not.  At least I can ensure I have good milk supply, right?

So we headed to the next hall where few counters with cooking equipment and ingredients were set up.  All were Philips products.  Well, what do we expect when the session was sponsored by Philips right?  Sure there will be advertisement and promotion.

Here we met Chef Marina Mustafa.  Not many will know her as she is not one of those famous chef in Malaysia but she is attached to Philips and cooked using Philips products only.  She is a very friendly and bubbly lady and very nice.

Our first dish of the session was Claypot Chicken Rice.  I looked around and found no claypot and no gas stove.  But we were told we can use the Philips Pressure Cooker to make claypot chicken rice.  To me, it's not claypot chicken rice if you don't cook in claypot lah.  It's another dish called Fragrant Chicken Rice.  Anyway, we started, very kelam kabut.

With us in the same counter is another Malay couple.  All the ingredients were already measured and put into the respective containers.  So all we need to do is to cut the vegetables, mainly onions, garlic, ginger, etc.  Then dump everything from rice, chicken, sauce and all the vegetables into the pressure cooker and cook for 15 minutes.  As everything happened so fast, sometimes I don't know what really happened.

But don't worry, the Philips staff were at hand.  They were there to guide us, like how to cook and what to put in and so on.

Next was a Peanut Butter Banana Oat Smoothie using the Philips Avent Baby Steamer & Blender.  We have this product at home for our nephew and I must say it's really very easy to use.  Just cut the banana and dump it into the steamer and then steam for 5 minutes and then blend it with peanut butter and oats and honey.  Then it's ready to drink.  This was quite yummy!

Last dish was Tuna and Cheese Quesidilla (I think).  First cut some red capsicum and onions and put into the steamer.  Steam for 10 minutes and then salt and pepper and blend into juice.  Then spread the juice on a tortillas.  Then put tunas onto the tortillas and cheese and then some coriander.  Then cover the top with another tortillas.  Put everything into the Philips Air Fryer for 5 minutes.  And that's it.  We have very crunchy and delicious tuna-tortillas-quesidilla

The result:  All the food was very yummy.  But I would have appreciated more if there was explanation was to how this will help with milk production.  Because I saw no co-relation.  Maybe they did explain but I was too busy cooking away.  I didn't do any cutting except for mushroom.  The Malay lady did all the cutting.  But looks like both of us don't really cook at home as we were really that bad at estimation.  Haha.  We had fun though.

What I like about the session:  We enjoyed the cooking session very much.  It was the first ever for us and though 7 months pregnant, I was able to stand and walk around for 45 minutes.  We paid only RM30 but we get a lot more in return.  There was free door gift, all Philips stuff and on top of that, we can also pack back the food that we made.  Except for the smoothie that we finished on the spot.

What could be improve:  I wish they concentrate more about breastfeeding than introducing Philips product.  They could have also given us recipe of what we cooked during that session so that we can try at home but was told to buy Chef Marina's cookbook instead.  I understand this is part of promotional sake and if we paid RM30 only, what else should we expect.

Well, a breastfeeding class cost about RM100+ and a ParentCraft class cost about RM200+.  Cannot complain about this.  We did get some books from MyNutriBaby on breastfeeding and how to plan our meals to improve our milk production.  Just wish it was longer session than concentrate the main portion of our time on cooking.

But overall, we did enjoy ourselves.  It was first time for both of us.  To know more about breastfeeding, go to MyNutriBaby website.  Quite informative.
