Things to do

Do you believe in Karma?  I do.  Remember I wrote about a friend who commented why I had miscarried so easily?  I just found out that after the first child, she struggled to get pregnant again.  According to her it took her half a year to get pregnant, but her son is already 5 years old.  But now she is pregnant and we are due about the same time.  I am happy for her.

I don't know if it's Karma.  Whatever it is, all is good now.  Just be kind to people and don't judge too quickly.

Sometimes I am very thankful to have very supportive friends around.  Few days back, I met with my old school classmates whom I have been avoiding for years because they all had kids and all but here I was struggling.  In fact, I have unfollow all of them on Facebook.  This time, it felt different.  I got a lot of tips on how to breastfeed, how to deliver my baby, where to buy cheap baby things, what brands are good, what to buy, what is needed, etc.  All from the experienced moms.  Some are so happy that I am finally pregnant.

Although this is my first, many of them already have 2 or 3.  So of course, their experience is very valuable.  And I am so glad I met with them.

Maybe it's because I am pregnant now that I can understand their experience.  But I doubt they will understand the challenges of fertility and miscarriage because none of them had it.  So, if I was still not pregnant and struggling, I probably will not go for the gathering.  Different priority, different times.

Anyway, I have to start budgeting and prepare for baby's arrival.  I have heard and researched and did all my homework and I need to remember all of them now.  Better write it down before I forget.

1. Baby and mother fair
There's one in Mid Valley called the TCE Baby Expo from 20-22 November 2015.  This is the last fair for the year it seems.

2. Breastfeeding class
Pretty sure most Malaysian moms heard of Gina, one of the administrator for The Breastfeeding Advocates Network on Facebook.  She has also started a confinement centre and also actively giving classes on breastfeeding.  The next class is on 7 November 2015.  It's from 1.30-6.30pm.  Not sure how much it is.  Need to enquire.

3. Baby's things
Clothes - Most will be preloved as baby outgrow them very fast.  I will probably get some of them as gifts later.
Diapers - Will need to buy newborn disposable diapers but I will probably use cotton napkins or cloth diapers during the first 2 months.
Baby bottles - Was told no need to buy any at all as my nephew has a lot.  If breastfeeding goes well, then probably will not need it so soon.  Only when I go back to work.
Breastpump - Have decided on Spectra M1.  Highly recommended by a friend who is using it.  I was thinking between Spectra M1 and Spectra S9 Plus.  But heard reviews that S9 Plus konked very fast.  This will be around RM527.90 value pack but would check out at the fair.  Budget = RM600
Baby's bed set - No need to buy also.  Use back my nephew's.
Car seat - Many brands out there, from Combi to local brands.  Combi is on the higher side, about RM1.5k.  There's also Sweet Cherry brand and I think I might get one of these.  What I want is a car seat from newborn to 4 years old.  Budget = RM600
Baby's cot - A friend said will give me baby's cot which is made of rattan.  And I fell in love when I first saw it.  Hopefully she remembers.
Stroller - I thought I don't need one until when baby is bigger.  I don't like to depend on the stroller to push baby wherever we goes but my friend insist that this is a necessity, especially if you go out a lot.  We don't go out a lot, at the most will be at the garden or the park nearby.  Anyway, a friend said will give me her baby's stroller which is to use from newborn to 6 months only.
Baby carrier - Probably need to invest in one.  But got hands-me-down too.
Nursing pad and stuff - Need to research more on this.

4. Hospital bag
I was told to start packing my hospital bag by 7th month, just in case.  What's needed in here?
Slippers
Socks
Dressing gown
Toiletries
iPad and charger
Towels
Snacks and drink
Going-home clothes
Nursing bras
Breast pads
Maternity pads
And baby's clothes and stuff

5.  Hospital bill
OK, I heard CS in Sunway is about Rm13k with GST.  I need to get this ready.  Budget = RM13k

That's all I can think of right now.  Breath in, breath out.
